                            MANAGEMENT

Rob Oberst---President

As a practice leader and a founder of Watson Wyatt's National Administrative Systems Practice, Rob Oberst helped numerous companies choose their HR Information System (HRIS).  These systems lacked many of the processes the companies needed, so Rob and his team developed over 50 systems to supplement the HRISs.  The team administered many of these systems on behalf of the clients, successfully processing over 1,000,000 employee records.  Later he specialized in helping companies peer through the quagmire of ineffective processes and outdated systems to find better solutions.

The HRISs improved, but he was frustrated with their limitations.  Why did a mega-sized company who spent millions of dollars on a HRIS have to spend millions more to buy other systems to supplement it.  Why did they outsource to five, ten or twenty different vendors, feeding the same data in a different format to each.  The HRSB is being designed to do more, serving as one source for all HR administration.

Background

After graduating from Miami of Ohio, Rob established a payroll service bureau that served 10 Ohio hospitals.  He then managed the development of TRW's HRIS and Benefit systems for 100,000 employees and 100 diverse divisions.  Later he joined Watson Wyatt, where he wrote the white paper and charter for their hundred million dollar HR Administrative Systems Practice and was the Midwest Regional Practice Manager.  As a consultant, Rob assisted over 25 Fortune 500 companies on HR systems selection, reengineering, systems development and administration.  Working with Organizational Development he helped companies develop a new vision and institute change.

Rob also wrote a book entitled 2020 Web Vision, How the Internet will Revolutionalize Future Homes Business and Society.  He has spoken to numerous Management Groups and organizations about future technologies with specific emphasis upon HR (Including SHRM, WEB, IHRIM, TUG, San Diego University, San Diego State, Youngstown State). Rob has a MBA from Case Western Reserve University.
